# Affiliate Egg

Affiliate Egg is a separate plugin from the same author. It reads product data — title, price, image, stock — from almost any online shop, whether or not that shop has an affiliate feed.

Where [Content Egg](/integrations/content-egg.md) pulls products from affiliate networks, Affiliate Egg scrapes shops directly. That difference decides how much of your cashback programme it can reach: the merchants it covers are often small or regional, and only the ones your networks also carry can be tracked.

## What the two plugins do together

Turn it on in **Affiliate Egg → Settings → Cashback Tracker integration**. It is on by default. Both halves are then automatic — there is nothing per shop to configure.

* **Links that already go through one of your networks** get the signed-in member's tracking id added, so their purchase is credited.
* **Shops you have not set an affiliate link for** are looked up in your shop list, and if you have that merchant on one of your networks, its tracking link is used instead of an untracked one.

Needs Affiliate Egg 11.1 or later for the second half.

### Links you already set up are never touched

A deeplink in Affiliate Egg is something you typed in for that shop — your choice of which network gets that merchant's commission. Cashback Tracker never overrides one.

So the second half only ever fills a gap. A shop with no deeplink sends readers out earning nobody anything; if Cashback Tracker carries that merchant, the click earns you through that network and credits the member. Nothing you configured changes.

**Expect this to cover some of your shops, not most of them.** Affiliate Egg can read any shop on the web; your shop list only holds merchants from networks you have joined. On one real catalogue of 91 products, 56 already had an affiliate link, 35 went out untracked, and 5 of those were on a merchant Cashback Tracker carried.

Check the overlap before relying on it: **Cashback Tracker → Shops** is the list, and anything outside it is untouched.

### What a member sees

Nothing on the page changes. Affiliate Egg has no cashback badge of its own — the rate is not printed beside the product the way [Content Egg](/integrations/content-egg.md) can print it.

A visitor who is not signed in still gets the tracking link, without a member id on it, so the click still earns you through the network. There is simply no member account to credit.

**An Affiliate Egg product link is not automatically a cashback link.**

Matching is on the exact domain, against the shops your networks gave you. A merchant you have not joined is left exactly as it is, and a purchase through that link pays the member **nothing**.

If your site promises cashback, a member who buys through a product table and receives none will report it as a bug. Know which of your merchants are covered before you point members at product content.

### Link cloaking

Affiliate Egg's own link cloaking is safe to use with this. Cloaked links are built when the reader clicks, not when the page is rendered, so each visitor gets their own tracking id even on a page served from a cache.
