# Writing shop pages with AI

### The four things it writes

| Field                | What it is                                |
| -------------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| **Description**      | The page's main text, describing the shop |
| **SEO title**        | The title search engines show             |
| **Meta description** | The snippet under it                      |
| **Tagline**          | A short line under the shop name          |

You can generate one or all four.

### Generating them

Open a shop page. The generate controls sit with the Shop Info box: pick the fields you want and press the button.

Text appears in the fields — the description in the editor, the other three in Shop Info — and **nothing is saved until you save the page**. Generate, read it, edit it, then publish.

### The shop needs a domain

**If the button is disabled or missing, the shop has no domain.** This is by far the most common reason, and it looks exactly like the feature not working.

The domain is how the AI knows what the shop actually sells. Without it there is nothing to write about but a name, and a name alone produces something plausible and wrong.

Shops imported from a network normally have one already. Shops added by hand often do not.

### Shop instructions: the setting that matters

`Settings` → `AI` → **Shop instructions** is applied to every shop description you generate. Tone, length, what to avoid.

Spend ten minutes on it before generating anything in bulk. Without it you get competent, generic copy that reads like every other cashback site; with it you get something that sounds like your site. It is much cheaper to write one instruction than to regenerate four hundred descriptions.

Things worth putting in it:

* how long a description should be
* the voice — plain and factual, or warm and chatty
* claims never to make, particularly about prices, delivery or stock
* whether to mention cashback at all, or leave that to the page furniture

### Read it before you publish

The text is a draft, not a finished page. Generated copy can state things about a merchant that are out of date or simply invented — delivery terms, product ranges, country availability.

Check anything factual, especially on your busiest shops. A wrong claim about a merchant is worse for your credibility than no description at all.

### Regenerating

Press again for a different attempt. Each press is a fresh charge from your provider.

If several attempts are all wrong in the same way, the answer is the instructions rather than another attempt.

See [Bulk generation](/ai-and-seo/bulk-generation.md). Anything you have already written is left alone, so a bulk run fills gaps rather than overwriting your work.

### Where the metadata goes

The SEO title and meta description are used when the page is built. If you run an SEO plugin, they are handed to it — and anything you wrote in the SEO plugin's own fields always wins.
